Hoke Designs is a web design, hosting, photography and drone business in Juneau, Alaska. This policy explains what personal information our websites collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
It covers hokedesigns.com and our other sites: ecommerce.hokedesigns.com (our print shop), reservations.hokedesigns.com and appointments.hokedesigns.com, events.hokedesigns.com, learn.hokedesigns.com and support.hokedesigns.com. It does not cover websites we build or host for clients; those sites have their own privacy policies, and we handle their data under our agreement with each client.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Questions and quotes: your name, email, phone, business name and the details of your request.
- Orders: name, billing and shipping address, email, phone and what you bought. Card details go straight to our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Bookings: name, email, phone, the appointment you chose, any notes and your time zone.
- Event RSVPs: name, email and number of guests.
- Course accounts: name, email, username, a securely hashed password, course progress, quiz answers and any assignments you upload.
- Newsletters: your email and name, if you sign up.
- Support requests: whatever you send us by email, chat or our help desk.
- Text messages: your mobile number, if you opt in (see Text messages).
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and the page you came from. We use these to keep our sites secure and block abuse.
- Analytics: Google Analytics tells us how visitors use our sites: pages viewed, scrolling, clicks on outside links, site searches, video plays and file downloads, with approximate location and device type. One analytics cookie is shared across our hokedesigns.com sites, so a visit that moves between them counts once. We have not turned on Google Analytics' advertising features.
- Newsletter activity: if you subscribe, our newsletter tool records when you open a newsletter and which links you click.

How we use it
- To answer your questions, prepare quotes and deliver the services you ask for.
- To take payment for, produce and ship your orders, and to send order, booking, RSVP and course emails.
- To send newsletters, only if you signed up. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- To keep our sites secure, prevent fraud and fix problems.
- To learn which pages help people, and improve them.
- To keep the records that tax and accounting rules require, such as order and shipping records.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: performing a contract with you (orders, bookings, accounts), our legitimate interests (security, improving our sites, answering questions), your consent (newsletters, text messages, and cookies where consent is required) and legal obligations (tax records).
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that help us run our business, and only what each one needs:

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business. We never sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
How long we keep it
- Orders and invoices: as long as tax and accounting rules require, generally seven years.
- Questions and support conversations: up to three years after we last hear from you, unless you become a client.
- Course accounts: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Sample bookings and RSVPs made on our demonstration businesses and calendar: deleted automatically within about a day.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Security logs: about 90 days.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some records, such as invoices, when the law requires it.
- Unsubscribe from newsletters with the link at the bottom of any newsletter.
- Stop text messages by replying STOP.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
- We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out. Because we don't sell or share personal information, there is nothing further to switch off.
- If you are in the EU or UK, you may also object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and you may complain to your data protection authority.

Children
Our websites are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Our sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS). We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, keep our software updated and monitored, and never store full card numbers. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as Alaska law requires.
Where your information is stored
Our websites and data are hosted in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the U.S.
Text messages (SMS)
- Consent: we text only people who opt in, on our website, by text or in writing. Messages cover appointments, project updates, support and, if you choose, occasional promotions.
- Frequency: message frequency varies.
- Costs: message and data rates may apply.
- Stop or get help: reply STOP to stop messages at any time; we will send one confirmation and nothing more. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].
- Sharing: no mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on our websites or email the people affected.
